February 16th, 11:30AM @ Campus Theatre (214 W. Hickory)
We found Scott through an article in the Austin American-Statesman newspaper about the 25th Annual Vacuum Cleaners Collectors Convention, which was held at the Embassy Suites in Austin (photo gallery: http://galleries.statesman.com/gallery/vacuum-cleaners-collectors-convention/#88776). He was 14-years-old at the time and already a stand-out among this unique group of enthusiasts. The article also mentioned his at-home collection which, since he began collecting 5 years ago, has grown to over 150 vacuum cleaners. Some of these he keeps in his bedroom, some have spilled out in the hallway, others are stored in the garage, and the rest are in a storage yard a few miles away from his Georgetown, Texas home. Although Scott has had numerous articles written about him, no one has ever made a movie about his collection interests. So we contacted Scott through his mother Barbara, asked if we could ask him a few questions on camera, and they agreed. 'See the Dirt' is a portrait of a young man with an unusual hobby and the support system around him who appreciate Scott as one unique individual.
