'Ten years after the devastation of the rebel war, Sierra Leoneans abroad are still afraid to return home to their families”, says Aminata from Lakka, Sierra Leone. In this picturesque beach village, a fisherman, a carver, a restaurant owner, a local politician and an aspiring rapper live their lives in small proximity of each other. Their visions however are surprisingly different. As the camera slowly shifts from intimate encounters with the characters to stunning images of the environment, the five residents candidly share their deepest and most profound moments in their lives. Stories about the ocean and the land, about opportunity, love, religion, tradition and about foreigners; tourism on the heavenly beaches is nowhere near to how it was in the 1980s. Visitors stay away because of stories about the war, stories that the inhabitants would rather forget. This is a story about everything else but war.
